Building product listing program grows in popularity as more manufacturers seek recognition

More and more manufacturers are seeking recognition from the ICC-ES Building Product Listing Program, which offers manufacturers certification that indicates to code officials they are approving products that meet the requirements of specific consensus standards referenced in building codes.

“Our goal is to provide a complete comprehensive program for our clients,” said ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian. “I am pleased that manufacturers recognize the importance of having an ICC-ES Building Product Listing. Code Officials, specifiers, engineers and other industry specialists look for our trusted Mark of Conformity on products and know they can rely on these listings because they allow approval of building products with confidence and peace of mind. Code Officials who are also members of ICC prefer our listings because of our technical expertise and high quality reports. ”

Among the most recent manufacturers to receive ICC-ES Building Product Listings are:

  • ESL-1024 for Fortifiber Building Systems Group’s WeatherSmart® Drainable
  • ESL-1022 for R.H. Tamlyn & Sons LP’s TamlynWrap housewrap

To qualify for the Building Product Listing Program, a product must meet requirements in a standard specifically listed in the applicable International Codes. Products already referenced in the International Building Code® or the International Residential Code®, and used as intended by the codes, also qualify for an ICC-ES Building Product Listing. If the product successfully meets applicable requirements, ICC-ES will issue the listing within eight weeks or less of the initial application.

Additionally, ICC-ES is now able to certify many building products for the Canadian market following accreditation of the program by the Standards Council of Canada. The Building Product Listing Program meets Canadian requirements, providing manufacturers with a way to indicate to Canadian code officials, designers and specifiers that products comply with consensus standards referenced in the National Building Code of Canada. Manufacturers can go to the jurisdictions in both the U.S. and Canada and have their products readily approved by the code officials of the two countries.

The ICC-ES Listing Program offers manufacturers a fast and cost–effective way to list their building products under any existing consensus standard. To find out if your product qualifies for this program, contact an ICC-ES Connect+ Customer Care expert at 1-800-423-6587 ext. 1.
